Uwe P. Trinks, PhD 
Chief Information Officer
Uwe joined Sentrx in 2000. As CIO, he directs the Information Technology operations and has been instrumental in guiding the development of Sentrx SafetyTrak® solutions and building the infrastructure for the safety system hosting offering.
Uwe has unique expertise in the pharmaceutical and IT industries, recognizing early on the importance of using technology to address real-world research and regulatory needs. He spent seven years as an oncology researcher at Ciba-Geigy, winning the prestigious Ciba Pharma Research prize in 1992 for his work on tyrosine kinase inhibitors. In 1993, he became Head of Research Information Services for Ciba-Geigy Pharmaceuticals, and was pivotal in defining Ciba's global research IT strategy. After the company merged with Sandoz to form Novartis Pharmaceuticals in 1996, Uwe became Novartis' Executive Director of Research Information Management (RIM) in the United States and Global Head of Operations for Research Information Management. In this role, he was responsible for managing the company's research-related IT infrastructure, which served 2700 research associates at nine sites in five countries.
Uwe received a PhD in organic chemistry from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, and conducted postdoctoral research at Stanford University. He is published extensively in both medical research and IT journals and holds a number of patents. Uwe is also a frequent speaker at pharmaceutical-related IT conferences. |
