Andrew Karras, RPh, MBA
Director of Training
Andrew Karras joined Sentrx in 2008 as the company's first Director of Training. He is responsible for training Sentrx employees and clients on drug safety systems and working practices, as well as developing new pharmacovigilance training offerings for the marketplace.
After working as a staff pharmacist for Drug Emporium, Andrew began his career in the pharmaceutical industry as a Drug Safety Associate with Schering-Plough in 1993. He prepared worldwide adverse event reports, NDA periodic reports, and IND annual reports for regulatory submission. He also performed trend analyses for investigational and post-marketed products.
In 1999, Andrew was promoted to Manager of Operations and Training. In this position he analyzed and resolved daily issues for more than 100 worldwide users of the pharmacovigilance database. He also served as the primary trainer for more than 1500 corporate employees, international subsidiaries, and external vendors on regulatory business practices, compliance issues, and pharmacovigilance database usage. He produced videos on AE reporting and improved the sales training program by creating interactive scenarios to better engage the salesforce. Andrew also served as the Dictionary Administrator for Drug Safety Surveillance and Clinical Research, performing user acceptance testing for the conversion from WHOART to MedDRA and subsequent MedDRA upgrades.
In 2005, Andrew accepted a position with Medco Health Solutions as Director of Clinical Services. He implemented and managed clinical programs for clients; met with the top customers of clients to represent the Medco value proposition; provided clients with periodic updates related to new drugs, clinical programs, drug recalls, product discontinuations, and other issues impacting safety and customer service; and interacted with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to resolve client issues. Andrew also trained clients' regional sales offices to increase their understanding of the pharmacy benefit and mentored new hires in clinical and account management positions.
Andrew earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Rutgers University and a Master of Business Administration in Marketing and Finance from New York University. He is a registered pharmacist in the State of New Jersey.
